Oh No!
Do you get this:

Error 2738 — could not accessVBScript run time for custom action when you try to install a programme? DON’T PANIC there is a solution!

This error message indicates that the VBScript engine is not correctly registered on the affected machine.

Try the following to see if any work for you — no guarantees — but what have you got to lose?!

Some Anti-Virus programs are known to affect the registration of the dll.
EG:
If you’ve used McAfee Anti-Virus in the past (even if you have un-installed it), please use this tool to remove it completely.

You may have had this installed on your new computer & deleted it when the free initial trial had finished (that may be what happened to me).

Avast Anti-Virus – they have a solution you could download.
Try at your own risk! I did & it seemed to work for me in the end.
Alternatives:
The VBScript engine can be registered by following these steps:
1. Find out if you have a 32bit or 64bit Operating System:

2. Run Command Prompt as administrator:

3. Navigate to the folder that contains the DLL:
If you are using 32-bit version of Windows:
Type cd %windir%\system32 into the Command Prompt and press ENTER
If you are using 64-bit version of Windows:
Type cd %windir%\syswow64 into the Command Prompt and press ENTER
4. Run the command that registers the DLL:
Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll into the Command Prompt and press ENTER.
If the problem still persists even after successfully registering the DLL as described above, the most likely cause is that the DLL was already registered by a non administrative user.

A harder solution:
If the Technical Solution above didn’t fix the issue, you can delete the relevant registry entries and re-register the dll.
Please make sure you BACKUP THE REGISTRY/system before you make any changes to the registry.
To delete the registry keys, please run following commands in a command prompt with Administrator privileges.
On Windows 7 – 64 bit System
reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\­CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A5­5E8}” /f
reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3­741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f
On Windows 7 – 32 bit
reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3­741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f
To Re-register the DLL please run following commands with elevated privileges.
On Windows 7 – 64 bit System
c:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32 vbscript.dll
c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll
On Windows 7 – 32 bit
c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll

If you are still getting error 2738 you may need to look deeper into it – or even do a System Restore!
